Chef Hannes Restaurant

Wife and I had some errands to run in El Segundo yesterday and stopped here for lunch. Although the web says it was open at 11:30, 12:00 is more like it. The chef is from Austria and the decor looks like it came from any small town there. The music is straight James Last Orchestra (If you were in Germany in the 70s). Almost danced with the wife (I resisted the urge). The wife ordered tomato soup. It was thicker than bisque but not too thick. It was "she stopped talking with me and just ate it" good. Came with a slice of bread that was left untouched even though it was fresh. I had the meat loaf. It comes on a bed of spaghettini. I entered "don't talk, eat" mode. It was good as a lunch. A fantastic super absolutely worthy Italian restaurant, great for a date. Memorable service that doesn’t hold back on the family owned vibe. You get the feeling they have regulars that frequent. Come for the food & experience, leave with a reservation for next week.

Super good local restaurant in El Segundo, Cheff Hanes has a variety of foods from great daily soups, pastas, fish and meat. Everything has his special made sauces and it tastes really good. Wine and beer selection is good too. Kind and attentive staff, cozy atmosphere. Two dining rooms, outside patio and accommodations for bigger parties. Must visit!

Cute little hole in the wall with amazing food. We had the spicy tomato appetizer and the meatloaf and beef ribs, so delicious and great service as well.

This is simply the best lamb sandwich in town. The Au Jus sauce and house-made bread are delicious. 😍
