Cheba Hut "Toasted" Subs

Cheba Hut sets a nearly unattainable bar for sandwich shops. I've had nearly everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. They use real bread, fresh toppings, and maintain a consistently high level of flavor and presentation. They also offer a variety of "munchies" that are served in large portions and are a perfectly sweet compliment to the savory sandwiches. The staff is friendly, efficient and attentive, which are not common traits anymore, especially in an establishment such as this. I always tip wait staff well, but Cheba employees provide such excellent service that I am always compelled to tip them at a higher than typical rate. The decor is stoner chic which provides a chill ambience, and the televisions are at a reasonable volume that doesn't inhibit conversation.

I stopped by for a little lunch and got a friendly welcome from Damien at the bar. He took my order right away - I tried the Peach Hard Cider. I let him know I had already ordered my food from the app. I had a Midwest Best ‘Nug’ and some Not’Chos - they were both tasty, hot and fresh. Damien came back to check if I needed anything a couple times during my meal, which was appreciated. He also took the time to clear my basket and bag when I was finished eating, all while maintaining the bar and restaurant, keeping it straight for the next patrons. Apparently this is one of the go to spots in the area, because the dining area and bar filled up quickly after I arrived. If you haven’t tried the toasted subs at Cheba Hut, you need to stop in to give ‘em a try.

This was our first stop after getting off the plane, and it did not disappoint! The service was friendly and fast, and the food was incredible with generous portions. It truly feels like a locals’ spot — not your typical tourist stop. I ordered the White Widow (add banana peppers 🤌🏻), and my husband had the Italian. The bread was fresh and light, which made the sandwiches even better. We’ll definitely be adding this to our must-stop list anytime we’re in town!

11/23/25: I don't know what I like better: the sammies or the huge Rice Krispy treats. :-) I haven't been to Cheba in years, mostly because I try to avoid the ASU area when school is in session, but this particular day I wanted a great sandwich, from somewhere not overly franchised (such as Jimmy John's or Jersey Mike's). Cheba did not disappoint. I had the Pakalolo & it was just as delicious as I remembered from years ago. A couple weeks later we didn't feel like making dinner, so we stopped in again; this time I ordered the 5-0. Once again, another delicious sandwich. From the decor to the food, to the staff, Cheba Hut is a delight.

In Tempe on business and decided to come here for lunch .. staff was friendly and helpful as he describe a couple of subs for me to consider .. decide on a couple of 4in "Nugs", the AK-47 anf Midwest Best .. both tasted good but I like the Midwest Best more .. positive dining experience
