Staff is pleasant. Breakfast was fine. Provided bikes to get around Nantucket and towels for the beach. Room is small but it was clean. The only minor complaint would be the lack of outlets. The furniture hides the outlets by the bed. I wish they invested in furniture that extends the outlets or a lamp that extends the outlets, instead I needed to pull the nightstand out to get access to an outlet. 4.5 stars out of 5.

We stayed on the first floor of the Chapman House. The room had a significant mildew and sewer smell. We brought the issue to the attention of staff and they installed a dehumidifier which only modestly provided relief. The location of the Chapman House is very convenient to the beautiful downtown, the beach, and to some great runs around the Island. The location is excellent. Unfortunately, given the discomfort of the room caused by the mildew and sewer smells, I would not recommend staying at the Chapman House. One bright note was that at check out they did offer a modest discount for the room issues.

Upon first walking in the experience was great. I was met at the door and welcomed in and quickly checked in. The charm of the old building is amazing, but it has been meticulously updated without losing that charm. The room was beautiful, but I was in one of the few rooms that still utilized an actual key rather than an RFID key card, not a negative, just interesting that they weren’t all updated. The floors are beautiful, but old so there is no sneaking around anywhere as they squeak and move underfoot. This didn’t bother me at all, but might be worth noting for other potential guests. The bathroom was beautiful and completely updated to include a double rainfall walk-in shower with an included hand sprayer. The vanity mirror had a built-in light that made shaving an almost pleasant expe

Overall, this hotel is fairly good. The issue we had is we reserved a Chapman Queen room and when we checked into our room it was a Petite Queen room. I took pictures of our room on my phone to show that it is the EXACT match for the Petite Queen that is shown on the hotel’s site…it is identical. I saw a hotel employee on site and asked her about this and she said our room was indeed a Chapman Queen. I asked her why our room matched the pictures for the Petite Queen on their website and she didn’t really have an answer for that. We were in Chapman House room 310. Buyer beware in case you book a Chapman Queen and you get placed in this room…it is a Petite Queen and the hotel is basically ripping you off because the Petite Queen is a lower priced room. I added my pictures to show our room wa

Overall, a great experience! Walking distance to downtown. Upon arrival there is no reception desk so it’s a bit odd. Thankfully someone was around so we were helped pretty quickly, theres a number to text if you need assistance with anything though. Obviously it’s an old (yet beautiful) building so it’s expected that the floors would be creaky. My biggest complaint would be the construction and the room locks. There is construction going on at the Veranda right behind the Chapman House. It’s not noted when booking, and not that we were in our room much, but the shades had to stay closed during day time hours as construction workers could see right into our windows. Our room still used an actual key to lock the door, AND only a doorknob lock (no deadbolt or chain lock). Nantucket is safe
