Champy's Smyrna

First time in Tennessee and wanted to try some southern cooking. I got the 3 piece chicken tender with 2 sides - slaw and beans. Sweet heat sauce on the side. And a piece of white bread - which must be a southern staple? I have never had such delicious chicken strips as these. They were huge pieces of chicken breast - so juicy and meaty! And that fried chicken breading. - my goodness! The beans tasted like a homemade recipe with chopped onion - so yummy. The slaw was incredible. Large portion sizes - could be shared - I couldn’t finish it all. So filling. I ordered through the drive thru and it got my order in less than 5 minutes. Service was excellent. Very polite. This “fast food” was the furthest from tasting like “fast food.” This was a homemade meal from momma’s kitchen! Craving

Went today for lunch. And it happened to be the Tennessee and UK basketball game on TV. The place was packed. The food was really good. I had a shrimp Poboy with some fries and my wife had the catfish platter. And I may have had a couple of beers.

Great atmosphere and plenty of screens for sports. I love the decor and the employees were friendly. The fried chicken here was delicious, moist and full of flavor. Smoked Gouda Mac was great!

I ordered the catfish, with cheddar mac and cheese, and fries. My daughter got the BBQ chicken hunks. The catfish was decent, but could have used more seasoning in the batter. The tartar sauce tasted like it was a store brand. The fries were great. Crispy, crusty, and top notch. The BBQ hunks were very good, though I wasn't a fan of their BBQ sauce. It tasted more like a mid-tier hot honey. Their mac and cheese is trash. Very small portion, dry, and lacked flavor. The server was great. Super friendly, and attentive, and didn't miss the drink refills when needed. Our food came fairly quickly. The prices are a bit high. With a 22 percent tip, my bill for me and my young daughter came to $53. That's not very reasonable, IMO.

We had a really great time at Champy‘s on Friday night. Everything was fantastic from start to finish. The greeter/seater/hostess was awesome. I didn’t get their name. Our server was Carmen and greeted us quickly, got our drinks to us fast, and everything was perfect with our orders. Super friendly. The food was really on point and delicious. The restaurant was clean and the restrooms were the same. It’s a rarity where all the stars align… We thank you Champy’s…and see you soon!
