Chagrin River Diner

We were in the area, and were looking for a lunch spot. The Chagrin River Diner had good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. First of all, it has a neat atmosphere, rustic but also contemporary. They have a large counter and booths. You can see the kitchen staff behind the counter. We were immediately seated and our server took drink orders. They have maybe a half dozen beers on tap along with bottled beer as well. I went with the fried bologna and my wife went with the Monte Cristo sandwich. The food came out quickly. My wife loved the fries. When I think of fried bologna, I am used to a large slab of meat. This was different, the bologna was sliced very thin and stacked. The sandwiches were large and filling. This is an excellent restaurant for gluten-free needs. Especially for Celiac. Plenty of great options. The muscles were very tasty and not a fishy after taste. The fried spud nuggets are awesome. We had 3 meals that had French fries and they came out cool and not very enjoyable. The burgers are just right. I got the fried fish. A healthy portion to fill you up. Their homemade sodas are really good and not overpowered by a sweet or sugary taste. Just right. My kids said the service was their favorite. The staff is very friendly and funny as well. Great all around place to eat.

The place was Crowded -- which is a great sign that food & service is good!!! It was a short wait for a table. Service was great. Multiple gals serviced my table and ALL Were Helpful & Delightful!!! The food was beyond Amazing! The Seafood bisque was the Bomb!!! Even the Grapefruit Paloma in the pic was tasty! The Diner Signature Omelet was very tasty -- but it was Their Twist on potatoes for the dish - the Crispy Spuds -- that were Out of This World!!! As to why -- I leave it up to You - the Reader - to find out why - when you visit the Diner!!! - Kurt

Found this diner 4 years ago with friends while we were going to Mentor Headlands. This is now our breakfast spot every year when we go up. We always eat outside . We had tried several different breakfasts and the food is top notch! The servers have always been excellent!

Always a great experience! Their menu has standard fare my parents like, as well as more adventurous items for myself. Everything I've had has always been delicious. Service is always prompt and friendly. It can get pretty busy, but it's always been worth the wait.
