Centralia Regional Library

I've been coming here since 1999. I've seen the evolution of this place over the last 20 years. Its a great central place in Centralia and it provides many needed service. A computer lab, many reading areas, a plentiful amount of books, as well as cds/dvds. The staff are kind and helpful. The library has an activity room that holds events and several areas with more activity than just books. If you're new to the area it's a good place to start getting to know the area, the people, and even other great places around Centralia.

Sadly this library is ruined by the homeless that are allowed to camp out inside and out. Today I went to the library to sit and study. A homeless man who smelled sat down across from me. As if the smell wasn't enough he kept talking and making other noises. I had to move. The smell started gagging me. From what I've observed there are usually around 10-15 homeless hanging around inside and out of the library I use to like to bring my grandson (3 years). Not anymore since this man keeps coming up to talk to him. You can see people in here sleeping, taking up seats. On top of it all I find most of the staff rude to me.They sit around talking to other staff. I am from Indiana/Ohio. They don't allow these things in their libraries. I don't get all these positive reviews...I think they are jus

The staff is great! There's a nice play area for small children. You can request books on inter-library loan from any library in Southern Illinois.

I was very impressed with this library. My 7 month old daughter and I spent the afternoon playing in their discovery center in the children’s section. They had tons of neat toys and activities for her in addition to a good collection of board books. It’s a great free activity to do with babies and toddlers.

Enjoyed the live-stream of Danny Trejos on 4 APR 2023. Appreciate that his presentation was authentic but tempered for this audience. Danny surprised me in his wholesome, family-centered comments. Turns out, he is a "Christian in disguise." Thank you.
