I had an appointment nearby, but I arrived a bit early and decided to take a short walk. It started snowing, so I went looking for a coffee shop. I ordered a cappuccino and a cream bun without expecting much. Oh my goodness, it was literally the best pastry I’ve had in the last five years. So soft and airy, and the cream was absolutely amazing. Light, not overly sweet, and everything just melted in my mouth. The coffee was incredible too. Don’t let the simple, no-frills look of this place fool you, it’s absolutely worth it. The barista was also very sweet. Definitely recommend.

Very glad I stumbled into this little bakery after teaching a qigong yoga class nearby. The plain croissant was a perfect accompaniment to my bitter sweet coffee. Unlike soggy flaccid croissants elsewhere, this is flaky on the outside with some layered chewiness on the inside. It’s buttery but not overly rich, it doesn’t leave a greasy coating on the teeth and lips. I also bought the Mille fueille and a blackberry sliced cake. I’d have liked for them to reduce the sugar level or offer mildly sweet options for those of us watching our sugar intake. Overall, I’d say they’re both sweet but not sickening sweet.
