Carpinteria Community Library

I stopped into the Carpinteria Community Library since I was moseying myself to the burger joint across the street. Curiosity struck. I wanted to know what it looked like inside. So I sauntered myself into the library. It's small in square footage but they sure do pack a lot into the space. Besides books, they have computer (laptops) for in library use by library card holders. There was a cozy children's book and activity area giving off homey vibes. The armchairs added to that vibe along with the architecture of the building. They even had a covered front porch with pub height tables and chairs. Comfy place to crack open your laptop to use the WiFi. Fun fact: the Carpinteria city library was established on November 10, 1910 and was the first county library in California. (Ohhh the 1st).

This is the true, Carpinteria community and literary center. Wonderful staff - which emanates from the top down. Not concerned with only serving the "rich and famous" "influential people" and "wealthy tourists." This not for profit gem truly helps and cares about our entire community. It is not about manic hype, fake friendliness, and false promises to clients, patrons and others. Support our library, and its all volunteer sister bookstore, Friends of the Library, next door. These two true "locals" care about our community, not about personal monetary gain and self promotion.

Lovely, warm, community focused public library managed by attentive and caring staff, with a well curated collection. Fabulous children's area with wonderful wooden toys and puzzles. Plus, access to the entire Black Gold collection of hundreds of thousand books. Highly recommended!

The Baby and Me story time on Fridays is GREAT!! It's much less crowded than the central library story time, and the librarians get the chance to actually know the kids. It's very wholesome and sweet.

Came here on a rainy day with our toddler, because what other outing is there on a cold rainy day with a kid other than the library, just to find out that the library was closed- because of the rain. I know books aren’t waterproof but that is kind of sad.
