Captain Steve's Family Seafood Restaurant

My wife and I arrived a little after 4pm on Saturday, 11/29/25. Although the restaurant was moderately busy, we were seated right away. Our server, Morgan, took our drink order moments after we were seated and returned promptly with our drinks and some complimentary hush puppies. We ordered fried pickles as an appetizer and they came out quickly. I ordered the 2-item fried platter with Salt & Peppered Alaskan Whitefish, and Fried Oysters with a side of French fries. It also included Cole Slaw. The portion size was very generous with 3 large pieces of fish and 8 Fried Oysters. Such a disappointment. I got the Captains Platter and it was gross. Soaking wet, small piece of wet fish, the shrimp were dirty, didn’t even eat this food aside from the hush puppies which were tasty. Tried the stuffed crab and it tasted old unfortunately. My husband got the snapper and he liked it. Our food came with a basic salad which was not really stated on the online menu but no options for what goes on it so we got salads topped with bacon and cheese which we do not eat.

"PLEASED!" On Friday, February 14, 2025, I dined at Captain Steve's Family Seafood Restaurant in Ft. Mill, SC., with one guest. I liked the theme of the restaurant, and even though it was an EXTREMELY busy night for them, the wait wasn't too bad. Our waitress was helpful and attentive. My guest and I both enjoyed our menu choices, and the portions were "PLENTIFUL!" So, after stuffing ourselves with food there that night, we still had plenty of food left on our plates to take home with us for a future meal. Had the broiled shrimp platter which was not broil or grilled looked to be pan fried, had a weird seasoning on it. also the she Crab Soup had, quite a bit of shells in it from the crab it was very bland tasting, Really surprise, I've eaten here before and the food was pretty good. But then again it was a fried dish I had gotten last time, will not be back.

I haven't been to Captain Steve's in many years and it's unfortunate. Because this place has fantastic food and the place is beautifully kept and decorated. The seafood was so fresh and delicious. We shared a seafood platter and still had leftovers. Our waitress Savannah was awesome! She was so friendly and attentive and cheerful! She deserves a raise 😊 If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Will definitely be back. I'm sorry it's taking me so long to venture back to Fort Mill but it's worth the trip from Chester!
