Canal Side Inn & Restaurant

This is a beautiful room. We stayed in the Bocuse room. Cons: It got very cold in the room and we only got it warm with the space heater provided. The bathroom door doesn't close. And the other door inside the bathroom to the toilet doesn't close. The windows were drafty. We could hear people talking outside on the sidewalk easily so it was a bit noisy. At night there was a noisy water trickling sound. There weren't many outlets available. The only convenient ones were right by the bed. Pros: All the appliances worked. The bathroom is beautiful and big. The whole room was very spacious. The TV had lots of shows and channels to watch. The entire room was clean. The location is great. I went for Valentine’s Day dinner (I was not aware of the $75 prix fix menu), nonetheless i would like to start off by saying the service was amazing. The staff is very welcoming. The food on the other hand? Not very impressive giving the price point. Very small portions, no flavor just bland. Overall I had to bring my food home and add flavor to it for me to enjoy. It’s just not worth the money, and I had very high expectations. Ambiance was nice though.

We ate at the Canal Side Inn, and stayed upstairs in the Inn. The restaurant was excellent. The food is a fresh take on French favorites, deliciously updated to be lighter and prepared to reflect local, farm fresh ingredients. The Chef was friendly, welcoming and came to our table personally to talk about the specials, as well as to check on the food. Service was beyond high quality, attentive, friendly, timely and helpful. The wine list was very good for a small town and a locally oriented restaurant. There were selections from France, Italy, Argentina and Chile, as well as the usual suspects from California. Wines by the glasses were affordable but did not sacrifice quality for price. What a meal!!! Calamari appetizer with a fantastic chili dipping sauce, prime rib dinner and the most amazing cheese cake dessert! The atmosphere was warm with plenty of art to view. Chef John was personable with a genuine concern for any dietary wants or needs. He personally checked in on our table and made sure everything was to our liking. He and all the staff were welcoming and will have many future visits from me! Thank you, I haven’t stopped smiling since I left the restaurant!

Had my daughters baby shower there yesterday! Food was beyond spectacular! Atmosphere and ambiance was awesome! Staff was fantastic and engaging loved them them all! Highly recommend the Canal Side for any event and the dinners there are delicious as well- the lobster ravioli—-YUM!
