Camino Real Mexican Restaurant Bar & Grill

This location was awful as far as service and food goes compared to Wilmington and surf city locations, though likely a staffing issue as our hostess was also our server. Anything they could cut with water it seems they did, the refried beans were more like bean broth, nachos came out soggy with watery queso. Chicken and steak came out incredibly over cooked and so dry it almost made me thankful for the bean soup to give it some moisture. Margarita was good.

So nice to have a great Mexican restaurant stop in Hamstead. We got the fajitas for 2 and it comes w rice beans and salad for each person. And it’s enough food for 3-4 people. I’ve eaten at a thousand Mexican places and this is the first one to serve pork with the fajitas of chicken steak and shrimp and oh my word was it divine. My husband is now addicted to carnitas. Very reasonable prices and you can get a pitcher of beer for $10.50! Service was very quick and the house guacamole and cheese dips are sublime. Will definitely stop anytime we are driving between home and going south which is often.

Nayeli and Kariel were absolutely LOVELY! Kariel made me one of the best skinny margaritas I’ve ever had, and as a bartender myself, I was very impressed. The murals I couldn’t get over, they are so beautiful! Wonderful, friendly staff and fabulous atmosphere.

Excellent authentic lunch fajitas and chicken burrito. Wife and I stopped here for a late lunch today. Atmosphere is warm and inviting with comfortable booth seating and walls that look they were hand painted. Server brought us 2 salsa cups (not all restaurants do this), one each and we didn’t have to ask for straws. Food temperature was perfect as were the spices in our meals. Healthy lunch portions. We ended up bringing some home. ¡Muy bien!

Love the new location. Much bigger. Which means more customers, so we did not get as much attention as at the old location. My drink was not refilled. But, they did make sure we had all we needed. Just had to wait and ask someone to bring us the bill, after waiting for our server to come back. We got the hostess who was passing by. It is always delicious and you always need a box to go. 👍👍👍
