Customer Reviews
Staff are friendly and welcoming, the location has street parking, and you can sit and work or take your coffees to go. I appreciate that they use in-house vanilla syrup w/out corn syrup. This is a cute spot if you’re looking to pick up coffee or sit in Newtown!
The coffee is nothing to speak home about. I can name 5 better coffee shops evermore, pennstock, sey, royal mile, pilgrims, reanimator, and one up one down. The places I named care about the beans and the quality, they offer a wide variety from medium to light. Calm water? No, all the beans I have bought taste the same. The atmosphere is also just sad. It feels like a mental institute that wants to feel welcoming. It’s to sterile, to white there isn’t anything welcoming about the place. I feel like I’m walking inside a doctors office. Add more color contrast, some old rustic wood. Make it feel more like a homey and warm environment. They won’t even pull single shots. It similar to ooika. All in all, do better with the coffee and improve the space.
If you’re an espresso aficionado or someone who truly cares about coffee—knowledgeable about processing, varietal, region, elevation, and extraction—this is your best bet in the area. I’m a former professional barista (through the second and third waves) and now a meticulous home barista in the fourth wave. After moving from Philadelphia—a city spoiled with fourth-wave roasters—I was grateful to discover Calm Waters. They’re the only local spot offering a comparable experience. They feature rotating single-origin espresso and drip selections, usually leaning toward Scandinavian roast profiles, which is a huge win around here—especially when most nearby roasters in Yardley and New Hope still seem stuck halfway through the second wave. My only knock—and this would only be noticeable if yo
Nice spot for an afternoon cappuccino. The barista was skilled and the staff was friendly and despite a line up that rivals Starbucks at rush hour, we got our drinks quickly. The coffee was tasty. But everything got was served in paper take out cups.. which is too bad... A mug really makes the experience... I'll visit again though, for sure!
Drinks are good, baked goods are disappointing, clean modern atmosphere. Great to have this place in town; it's pretty much the only decent coffee option. For some reason they're not very flexible about drinks (some they won't let you order iced, others you can't add mocha to, rules rules rules). Anyway very friendly staff, but it seems there's something deeply customer-unfriendly behind the scenes somewhere.
