Callahan Barbecue

2025-06-25 We are here for lunch today. Everything was cooked perfectly. Fries and Onion Rings were lightly golden just right. Chicken was perfect and the large chicken sandwich was huge. I suggest the small sandwich unless you are really really hungry. 2024 Best and biggest chicken sandwich I ever had. Also shared some gizzards and livers and they were great too. Nice staff were very friendly. Huge portions and huge pieces of chicken on our sandwich. So many gizzards and livers we didn't even finish them. Only negative is the size of the eating area, hard to find somewhere to sit during lunch time. We will definitely be back to this this place.

We wanted fried chicken. So we stopped at a BBQ restaurant in a strip mall. We were not disappointed. I knew when I saw a steady stream of folks going in, I was going to be in for a treat. I ordered (2) chicken plates, a gizzard plate and two BBQ sandwiches. The chicken and potato salad was some of the best I ever ate. My husband said the same about the gizzards. Wasn’t a fan of the BBQ. But the chicken made up for it. Will definitely stop again if I’m in the area.

Stopped in here tonight on the way back to GA. Atmosphere and service were great. The bbq however is for people that have never had good bbq. Pork was dry even after adding coleslaw and bbq sauce. The beef im guessing was supposed to be brisket(i hope not) i couldn't even eat because it was so dry and flavorless. Coleslaw and turnip greens were decent. That isn't enough to make me stop in here again tho.

We went through here for lunch today. My son lives about an hour away from me, so we have lunch about every other month together in Callahan.Needless to say I look forward to our lunches. The food was actually inedible as far as the sides. The okra had either been re-dropped too many times or just not cooked long enough. You could squeeze the oil out of it. The onion rings were the same. The pork actually was ok, but after waiting over 15 minutes I forgot to ask for sauce and wasn’t offered any. The tea is about all I would ever go back for. I grew up in Callahan and couldn’t be more disappointed in $32 worth of food from here.

This was our first time at Callahan BBQ, and we came in right near closing. The staff was incredibly friendly, patient, and helpful, offering recommendations and walking us through the menu without any hint of rushing us out. The ribs were tender and flavorful, and the fried chicken was delicious. Great food and even better hospitality. We highly recommend this place.
