Byram Shubert Library

Seriously the worst library I've been in. It's unfortunate, because the building is beautiful and it seemed like a great place from the outside. However, the people were awful that worked there. Treated me and my friend like we were some out of town strangers who should "just keep passing on through and don't bother stopping". On top of that it was so noisy from people that worked there talking you couldn't even concentrate. Horrible, just horrible. What a shame.

It's an excellent library but even more than that it is also a lovely cultural center that seems to bring together the community while recognizing diversity and the collective need for acknowledgment, appreciation and respect. The architecture is impressive here too. The tall ceiling on the book's level is gorgeous.

The librarians were the loudest in the room. Really hard to focus in a place where the librarians need to scream their life stories to each other. I think I learned more about their coworkers then the actual reading I planned on doing.

If you’re looking for a quiet place to study/focus, this is not your library. The structure of the building allows you to hear every conversation and the employees have conversations like every 10 minutes. It’s really distracting and at some point frustrating. Regardless, I love everything about the library. I just won’t come here to study again.
