BXVL Coffeehouse

I’m leaving this review so others are aware—please read till the end as this is a serious matter. From the moment we walked in, the experience was unpleasant. The woman at the front (who I later learned is the owner, based on other reviews) was very rude, so was the other employee. We came in expecting food based on the photos online, When I asked about food, the response was annoyed and dismissive as she signaled to some pastries and 2 ready to go sandwiches that were left. As someone who understands customer service and business ownership, this immediately stood out as unprofessional. We were a large group and there wasn’t enough space inside, and we were also told the shop was closing in about 30 minutes, so we decided to leave and go elsewhere. I've been to dozens of coffee shops in pretty much every town in Westchester, and BXVL is one I keep coming back to over and over again. There’s a few reasons I love this place. First, the people here make me feel like a regular. The owners are so nice and kind, and you can feel that they really care about running a great coffeehouse. And the staff is always friendly and welcoming and genuinely happy to see you when you walk in, which is really nice. Second, the coffee. Quality-wise, it’s fine. A regular cup is totally drinkable: no single-origin options and nothing to get excited about, but the flavor is decent enough - like a slightly watered-down Oaxacan profile, chocolatey with a firm body. The issue is consistency. They mess up mixed drinks a lot. My mom’s Americano tasted like hot water whispered to by coffee, and the flat white I ordered arrived without the milk - so it was literally just flat. Best Matcha latte I’ve had in Bronxville, and it’s in my top 3 period. Perfect. The service was great, everyone was very kind and helpful. Chill vibe in there, at the train station. Super convenient if you’re taking the train but we just stopped in after a walk to grab some drinks. The baked goods looked tasty but we didn’t get any. Will definitely be back.
