Brightside California Kitchen

Visited for the first time in February 2026. I ordered the Brioche Breakfast Sandwich with brown butter potatoes. It was absolutely freaking delicious, the waitress recommended the eggs as over-medium and I’m so glad she did. The potatoes were cooked to perfection and the texture really matched the sandwich. I mixed ketchup with maple syrup and it boosted the flavour by 100. The servers are so welcoming and friendly, and the food arrives SO fast. My server was Lydia and I recommend asking to be served by her. She is so cheerful and a delight to be served by. There’s also no pressure to leave like some places, I felt so relaxed and happy to stay for a long time. I’ll definitely return when I’m in Santa Monica again!

Found a hidden gem near LAX! ✈️ Brightside California Kitchen is the perfect brunch spot. I tried the Smoked Salmon Benedict and it was incredible—perfectly seasoned and not too salty at all. Such a lovely experience from start to finish. I arrived just before closing time and was worried I wouldn’t be able to order properly, but Markos was amazing welcoming, calm, and very professional. He took the time to help me choose exactly what I needed without rushing me, which I really appreciated. The food was delicious and I was genuinely happy with my choice. The music was amazing, the vibe was great, and as a creative person I truly felt at home, the decor, the atmosphere, everything was just perfect. Little joke: in London they’d probably call me a Karen for arriving so late 😄 but at Bright Side California Kitchen, everything was handled with such grace that it all felt easy and positive. We came in to eat some healthy food after eating 800 million calories for a few days in a row in other LA restaurants. We got what we came for. The salad was delicious but I’d appreciate the chef to break apart my lettuce so I don’t do the work in the plate, they serve with huge whole lettuce heads.

We had to check out the place with such great ratings and were not disappointed! The menus did need to be cleaned but that is the only thing we could find to be nitpicky about. It was so good we came back a second time for more the next day. The second time did not have quite the same service but was just as delicious as the first time! The service was not as impressive, but we did not have anything to compliment about. Parking was easy with a garage across the street and it is free for the first 90 minutes. We had cold brew coffee, regular coffee, avocado toast, juevos rancheros and enjoyed every bit of it. When we went back, we brought someone else who ordered a sandwich and it was such a generous portion! We will probably go back again and would recommend.
