My daughter recommended this place. Seems like a popular spot considering the lunch crowd. Had the build your own with Turkey, Ham, and Salami. I don’t usually like my bread toasted, but it wasn’t bad. I’d give it a 3.5 out of 5. Still haven’t had a better sandwich than Taste Tickler.
Got the chubby puggy on dutch crunch bread and bf got the don't strami along. Both were absolutely incredible. The chubby puggy was perfectly balanced. I can't wait to come back. Friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere ♡
Hands down Break Bread is my favorite shop in all of Portland. Their bread is amazing and their sandwich options, in particular the sauces, truly stand out. They can get very busy at lunch so I recommend ordering online a head of time. Also as a first time visitor I did get lost as I didn’t expect a sandwich shop inside of a building that appears to be a bank; just follow the smell of sandwiches.
Stopped in for a pastrami sandwich (there are 3 different varieties of pastrami sandwiches - we got The Goods) and it was delicious. The bread was fresh and the pastrami was delicious. The sandwich comes cold by default, but we asked them to heat the pastrami, which made it even tastier. The staff was very friendly. The sandwich shop is located on the bottom floor of the U.S. Bank building, with indoor as well as outdoor seating plus some bench seating in the lobby/common space. It feels a little more corporate than so many Portland eateries (more cool, hip, funky). We took our sandwiches around the corner to 40 Lbs. Coffee, which has a much cooler, cozier interior since we were getting coffee to go with our sandwich. But overall, still a great sandwich spot.
I really like this sandwich place and I think they’re very generous with their toppings. One thing I wish they offered is red bell peppers instead of green. I have a food sensitivity and can’t eat green bell peppers. Overall, I love this place & the Dutch crunch bread and Jimmy pesto is my favorite sandwich!!
