Boto Sushi Del Mar

Extraordinarily fresh seafood and unique ingredients. I can’t say enough to justify how special this sushi is. The staff and owner were extremely kind, gracious, and welcoming. The passion of the owners love for the ART of sushi shines in every bite. Truly a gem of a place in this wonderful neighborhood!

Boto Sushi is definitely one of the best high-end sushi places in San Diego. Chef Gary always has many rare specialty and seasonal fish flown in from Japan that are absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. He has a very unique background for sushi chefs and this translates into amazing and interesting flavor combinations that you can't find at any other sushi restaurant in San Diego. He also makes all of his sauces in house and even dishes that no one else makes on their own like monkfish liver appetizer, which is the best you'll find in San Diego. Highly recommend you sit with Chef Gary and get the omakase. A little tip for you - the Rosy sea perch is one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. The staff are all incredibly nice. This is definitely a treat-youself, awesome

If you are looking for a high-end authentic Japanese sushi/sashimi experience, look no further. Our family has been dining here for over 5 years, and we've enjoyed every single visit. Gary's sushi and sashimi is not only fresh, delicious, but also beautifully presented. Gary boasts unparalleled cutting skills allowing the taste of the fish to be accentuated and enjoyed. The ambience is bright and relaxing, while the service is also superb. My husband had his birthday Omakase here two years in a row, and we also brought my father-in-law here for Father's Day celebration. Everything on the menu is not to be missed, but the dishes we've ordered and enjoyed the most are: rainbow roll, hamachi lover roll, mango tango roll, XOXO roll, Toro tartare with caviar, Japanese Mackerel, Heart of Palm

Boto Sushi delivers on flavor and service—everything we ordered was fresh, well-executed, and beautifully presented. The staff there is amazing and the space has that modern zen vibe you want from a higher-end sushi spot. That said, I went with the Prestige Omakase and left wishing it had a bit more… well, fish. For the price, I expected the experience to be a touch more generous, especially when spots like Kinme and Maru offer comparable (or better) omakase portions at similar price points. Still, Boto is a solid sushi destination in Del Mar—worth a visit.

The restaurant was ok but they could do better. I get it, walked in at 1:30 and they were closing at 2:30 but I think their desire to get out of work on time over shadowed their responsibility to show excellence. The uni should have been served as 2 pieces not one for $30, they forgot the spicy tuna roll in the sushi sashimi special. They forgot our scallops sashimi and the shishito peppers and chicken karrage appetizers that e ordered. You as a customer should not have to make sure they have your order correctly. They should confirm.
