Black Hog BBQ & Bar

Found this gem while on adventure for my anniversary and was blown away. Its nice and quiet and the service and vibes were great but the food was hands down the best part. I've tried different BBQ joints around the DMV and like to check out the local restaurants and this has been the best place I've gone to so far. Prices and portions were fair, menu's nothing fancy or overwhelming its great straight to the point southern BBQ.

A great place to get bbq in Middletown This restaurant, Black Hog BBQ, started in Frederick, Maryland and has grown into a small restaurant chain with four active locations in the state. Their website states that the black hog is the rarest breed of hogs and they decided to name their company after it. This location, the Middletown restaurant, is the newest addition to the group. We were driving through town and looking for a bite to eat and decided to try it. It is a little off the main road but pretty easy to get to. We recently picked up dinner from Black Hog and, unfortunately, I was not impressed. They don’t accommodate requests for all flats when ordering wings—the best they can do is a 50/50 split. They also charge extra for additional sauce, and the containers provided were quite small. The wings themselves were disappointing. The drumettes were overcooked to the point of being inedible, leaving me with only a few edible flats—an unfortunate value for nearly $20. The mac and cheese was also underwhelming, lacking flavor and tasting more like plain macaroni noodles with a slice of cheese melted over the top. What happened to the bark? It looked like they skinned my brisket or purposely had a dog chew off all the bark. That’s literally the best part of brisket. Very strange. Hopefully this was a fluke. Check out the picture in case you think I’m crazy

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. I was lucky to have this place pop up on my phone during my travels. I had a pulled pork sandwich which was amazing. Their sweet potatoes are to die for. Parking was a bit scarce and people did have to make their own spots, but I was lucky enough to get a parking spot across the parking lot.
