Birchwood Bakery & Kitchen

The Birchwood Bakery and Kitchen is one of my favorite coffee shops in Massachusetts. We came across this coffee shop when searching for a bite to eat before we went over to the Franklins farmers market which is conveniently not too far down the road. My usual order is an iced vanilla matcha latte- it truly tastes like melted matcha ice cream. We have loved their sandwiches and many other treats that they offer. The atmosphere is clean and the decor is so sleek. Their restrooms were also tidy and spacious enough that it was easy to accommodate changing a baby’s diaper- I believe it would even be large enough to bring a stroller into the restroom as well. My friends and I love the Birchwood & we look forward to returning soon!

Good vibes, friendly service, and tasty food ☕ 🥪 It took about 10 minutes to get my to-go drink and sandwich on a Sunday afternoon so be prepared for a bit of a wait during the weekend/busy times. The sandwich came out hot and was made with good ingredients, thick bread, tasty cheese, quality bacon, and atleast two eggs. The latte was perfect for my taste - not burnt, smooth. The interior was airy and open with tables and bar seating available. I'd definitely go back try their other sandwiches and enjoy the interior a bit more.

Excellent coffee!! I got an iced Americano with mocha-very smooth and rich espresso and the mocha flavor was perfect. I don't like a sweet coffee and the mocha flavor was there but not super sweet. We also tried the pear-frangipane tart which was very good. Not extraordinary but very good. The customer service was also great! Very helpful and friendly. Would come here again.

Ordered a whiskey barrel cake from Birchwood, chocolate cake with salted caramel frosting, and it looked so realistic, that guests didn’t notice it was actually cake until I put the candles on top. The ordering process could not have been smoother. I sent some inspiration pictures over, along with guest count and an ideal budget, and they “got it” right away. Thank you, Birchwood!! I will definitely be ordering our cakes from here going forward!

I really was obsessed with Birchwood at the start, but then things started to kinda go downhill. We would drive a round trip of 40 minutes just to go there. Their pastries are pretty good, the cheese danish used to be a lot better. Their bagels are great, their Birchwood breakfast is also great. They got rid of a really great curry chicken salad that they should bring back! There matcha is my personal favorite though they are 9/10 out of matcha every time we try to go.
