Bill Memorial Library

I wad exploring Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park and spotted this gorgeous library. I served on my local Library system for 12 years and none of our four libraries had this kind of charm, character or beauty. The pink and red granite used in the outside construction is gorgeous. The woodwork inside and wood flooring is well maintained and a work of art. Even the ceiling had expert carpenters that used facing to hide the beams. It was doing a good business the day I was there and both librarians were very busy. I forgot to mention the hand laid terrazzo floor. This work back in the day was on your hands and knees and the craftsman is the best.

One of the Best Libraries I’ve Ever Visited! This library is truly a gem. The architecture is stunning, with a timeless charm that reflects its 18th-century roots. The staff is incredibly welcoming and helpful, making the experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere is peaceful and pleasant perfect for reading or studying. To top it off, there’s a nearby park with a breathtaking view of the ocean and beach. This is hands down the best library I’ve ever been to!

Really love going here. The staff does a fantastic job and I’m thrilled to keep bringing my daughter back. They have a great selection of materials, it’s clean, just one of those hidden gems of library. This was our first year participating in the summer reading and my daughter adores it. I would have put 5 stars easy except for a recent event we went to… That being said I would not recommend the 3D polymer art event with “Debbie”. She does not want anyone helping, even with your own kid asking. I think she needs to re-evaluate how she deals with kids. Making up random rules after going through the rules in the beginning. Guessing and fumbling kids names - please donate stickers or name tags to this lady if she’s going to do this. There were other issues but this is already too long. This

Nice local library. It has many children programs in the summer. Our family stopped here often over the years. A nice trip in the summer to enjoy a cool breeze after walking on the Griswold ground nearby. Staff is helpful and courteous.

When I was a teen from an abusive household, this place was a lifeline to me! A quiet place to research, learn, and study. It was and likely still is a perfect place to reflect. I am very glad to see the library is still operating and will be making financial contributions when I get the chance.
