Best Western Kokopelli Lodge

We were generally pleased with the Best Western Kokopelli Lodge in Clayton, New Mexico. And surprised to find such nice lodgings in a small town in NE New Mexico. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, the facilities well-kept. The bathroom had plenty of counter space. There was a fitness center but no pool. Breakfast was good with a quaintly decorated eating area and two hostesses hovering over the hot food making sure we were satisfied. They had fresh oranges!! We dinged the service 1 star because the wifi was very difficult to connect to. I admit to being confused about Best Western pricing. I paid the same amount to a Best Western in rural Kansas that had an indoor pool.

While it is nothing fancy, it was just perfect for our nightly stop on our way to Winter Park, Co! Check in was smooth, with a nice clerk. The bathroom area of the room was updated. The beds weren’t as soft as I like, but they were good and we all slept well. They accepted our doodle with a pet fee of 20.00, can’t beat that! The grounds were clean and nice. We loved being able to park in front of our room. You also could not hear any outside traffic. The breakfast was one of the best free hotel breakfast we have ever had and we have had a lot! My only suggestion would be to have a charging station, or two, to charge devices. We had to unplug things to charge phones, watches, iPads, headphones etc. Overall no complaints. Can’t believe we have never stopped here before!

We have stayed at Kokopelli quite a few times. Unfortunately like all of us it's not getting any younger. The front door to our room didn't quite fit and had a gap on two sides, big enough for flies to easily enter, which they did. But there was a fly swatter thoughtfully placed on the windowsill which we used on to good effect on five successful search and destroy missions. ||The outer drapes had no pull rods so we're not sure if they were supposed to. There was a pull rod on one side of the inner drapes although it promptly tore off of the sheer curtain fabric and just hung there.||To their credit, Kokopelli Lodge is trying. They had just finished some repainting before we got there and we know it was fresh because the door was tacky. And the bathroom door wouldn't close all the way beca

Nice accommodations and friendly staff. Bed was very comfortable and the breakfast assortment was great

Rooms were clean, and had good bath towels, not handkerchiefs. It was quiet for being next to the road. Great breakfast ! We had a king bed that unfortunately had a depression in it from too many people sleeping in the same place. Might be time to assess their beds. Overall I will stay there again and recommend it.
