Bert’s Pizzeria and Mexican Cuisine

The quality of food has gone way down. We ordered a Cesar salad - that looked horrible. It was a handful of greens, a couple croutons and several shaves of cheese. Thank God we checked it when we went to pick up - we had to ask to have some more greens added (what was presented to us looked like 1/2 a side salad). Never got any Cesar dressing for that salad. The Greek salad was missing toppings that were specifically mentioned in the menu. This has been my go to place for a few years but the past few times we have ordered - the quality and presentation is horrible.

I just got my Uber Eats order -- tried Bert's for the first time because I heard they were good. Ordered sausage, olives, and my beloved salty anchovies on a large pizza (every topping is $3, even if it's something dirt cheap like a handful of sliced black olives from a can -- EDIT: worth noting also that if you only get a topping on half the pizza, it's still $3. If you want *only cheese*, there's an option on Uber Eats for "just cheese" and you HAVE to select an option... for some insane reason, that's also $3). Got plenty of cheap canned olives, hardly any sausage, and they didn't have anchovies (EDIT: you can bet I paid for em though -- gotta love having to navigate Uber Eats help bot and upload photo evidence so I can get my three bucks back in 3-10 business days). Let me begin by saying I am from Long Island, where I think we have a particular type of Italian restaurant that I don’t find often here. Yes, we have great pizza, but all the other dishes I am used to are difficult to find. I was looking for several dishes to celebrate a particular family anniversary. One of the local places had not had their regular delivery and so while looking online I found and remembered Bert’s. I called, and the very nice guy on the other end of the line was very accommodating. In fact, online, they listed they had baked ziti, but he was unfamiliar with it. I heard him talk to one of the chefs, and they immediately felt they could accommodate. I am not all that mobile and I asked about parking; this is a tiny little strip of store, but there was no problem getting a

NY style pie, and you can get tacos here too…. Wasn’t expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised. The dough had good flavor and thickness, decent crisp. Good quality cheese. The sauce unfortunately was a bit acidic, and the oven wasn’t hot enough on top so the bottom cooked perfectly but the top was cooked enough. Overall I’d give another shot if I was in the neighborhood and craving a NY slice.

My very picky Dad was very very happy with the lasagna, a side order of sausage and the sauce. I got gluten free pizza with eggplant ricotta cheese broccoli and olives. I was happy because it was gluten-free and a normal size pizza. We will go there again.
