Berkeley House Bed & Breakfast

We booked the Augusta room - in the back of the main building. We arrived promptly at 4 pm. We were directed by their email confirmation to park our car behind the building. It was impossible to find that access. We parked out front and walked past the building to a dumpy entrance next to trash barrels and dead plants. The neighboring house was strewn with litter and old tires in the yard. Reasonably so, my wife felt uncomfortable staying in an isolated room on the trashy back alley. I requested a refund, I was offered an alternative room at 10:30 at night after we had already found a different more welcoming place to stay, For my trouble they offered me a $50 credit for a room costing close to $350. Do yourself a favor and find a different place to stay,

We had an amazing time with Jeff and Bonnie. The couple have made the Berkeley house into one of the best B&B's we've ever stayed in. The rooms are spacious and clean. They are really thoughtful and their hospitality shows through every detail. From the high quality soaps/shampoos/conditioners to the Tesla charger available to guests to the tasty and generous breakfasts, this was a great place to stay. Jeff even accommodated my husband's gluten allergy, and still managed to make the best cookies, breads, and waffles. We felt safe during the pandemic with limited and distanced guests. This was a perfect way to spend our 10 year anniversary. We'll be coming back soon!!

Beautiful place. Well appointed and accurately described on their site. Located at the corner of MBUniv and across from Woodrow Wilson House. Easy walk into town, ( uphill on the way back!). We stayed 2 nights in The Beverly suite. Secure entry we felt safe. Parking was tight, the alley is potholed, so tread carefully. Our suite was Spacious w couch and huge bathroom. Having the side porch to hang out for morning coffee and evening reading was delightful. The in room mini fridge and kureig was wonderful and a nice variety of choices. The “lobby” offers snacks (popcorn and cookies), water & ice, tea kettle, and ice cream!!! Yum! |Overall well done and far exceeds any hotel stay.

Historic Berkeley Place bookended our 2 night stay in Staunton where we enjoyed an excursion on the Virginia Scenic Railway with another couple. The house is more beautiful than photos convey. It is understated and elegant. Architectural details have been preserved, and modern touches have been incorporated. We really enjoyed the private porch that came with the first floor room, where we savored snacks and pre-dinner drinks both nights. The little gelato-stocked freezer in the lobby was an unexpected surprise. Host was very responsive when we had trouble getting our room lock to work. Would definitely stay here again.

After 5+ hours drive via the scenic Skyline Drive, we arrived at 6 PM at The Historic Berkeley Place but were not able to enter the location. |We called the place but they were not willing to let us in despite our confirmed reservation via hotel.com. |My pregnant wife and our 5 year old daughter were exhausted due to the long drive. |The Historic Berkeley Place showed no willingness to help us and we gave up after 30 mins on the phone (international call) and ended up acutely booking another place in town. |Apparently, the problem was caused by our bank automatically closing our credit card as a company in Texas tried to make a bank withdraw. It was an agency used by The Historic Berkeley Place - at least we assume so (no one told us) as the amount corresponded to the cost plus an extra 10
