I contacted BD hoping to set up a fair consumer proposal. I explained clearly that I'm on a very tight disability budget, owe about $7,500, and was trying to do the right thing by repaying what I reasonably could. Instead, I was offered a 5-year payment plan to repay $9,000 — more than I owe — at $150/month, which is absolutely unaffordable for someone living below the poverty line. This isn’t a consumer proposal. It’s a scam disguised as help. Real consumer proposals reduce your debt and freeze interest — this company just tried to lock me into a high payment plan and profit off my situation.
