Customer Reviews
The dining hall has improved in their food quality greatly this last year. I have eaten at BYUH from 2017, right when the Banyan Dining Hall opened 2022, and now 2025. It is better than it ever was. I will say the price is a bit out of budget for average individual (unless you have a meal plan). There is lack of main meal options (3-5 a day) compared to restraunt buffets but plenty of sides are available. It is structured as a cafeteria for students and a great option for students and for those who live in the area but it is not the same as a buffet option you may have in town. Make sure to check the website for the menu each week!
Maybe I picked a bad night to go, but at $16 per person, plus tax--this was the worst food decision of my stay in Hawaii. The cashier said they were out of a number of things when we entered, but what they did have was wholly unappetizing. Between dry, chewy and fatty meat, oily soup and a general unappealing mess, I can never recommend anyone eat here. How can you not even get a brownie right? I felt sorry for the students who have to eat here daily. These pictures are only from 1/3 of the dining hall... I think they validate my feelings.
The new building is incredible. There can be hundreds of peoples dining at once. Food is plentiful with lots of healthy choices and plenty to feed your “I know better” side.
Please update the timings in the google website and the banner at the entrance of the cafe. These say closes at 6:30 pm but they didn’t let us in at 6:04 pm as it closes by 6pm. And this happened even before as well at other times. If the timings aren’t updated it will be difficult for people who come from far along.
The new cafeterias is an nice place to eat, hang out and also study. The environment is just as confortable as a real restaurant. Having better opening hours especially for those finishing work late would be appreciated.
