I have been here before and I really enjoy this place! It’s probably been about a year a year and a half since I’ve been back in town so I could enjoy it again! Usually, I always get gumbo, I think this is the first time I have not. I had the Baby Kay’s Sampler, which is actually an appetizer with french fries, catfish, oysters, shrimp, hush puppies, and jalapeño poppers. But really impressed me was the fact that it came with ketchup, which you don’t need, horseradish sauce, cocktail sauce, and the Remoulade sauce!! Side of dirty rice was excellent, and I’ll wash down with an Abita Andygator, one of my favorite beers and always has been, I cannot get an Abita beer where I live.
The catfish and the green olive coleslaw were absolutely out of this world. There was a little mixup in my order, as it was my first time at the restaurant, so I ended up getting a bunch of extra food, and I was charged for it, but I thought it was part of the combo. That kind of sucked, but the food was really good. I did not care for the jambalaya, but the crawfish sauce was to die for. I didn’t see the menu description of the bread pudding, but it has a very strong whiskey sauce on it. It ruined it for me.
It is lively and exciting in the restaurant with live music. The staff are all friendly and helpful with learning the menu. Feels like a big family vibe! But then the food... guys, I dont eat any kind of pork (not even bacon) but this pork chop was heavenly. Like call ahead and order it on the days they serve it before its sold out kind of good. And the crawfish Étouffée is out of this world. Everything looks and smells amazing. Taco is Tuesday is my next exciting night to try!
Busy little restaurant on a Friday night. They had a duet percussion/guitar sing classic blues tunes, while the food was coming out the kitchen. Great service for as busy as it was too. Food was exclusively Cajun, so catfish, crayfish, po boy's. I highly recommend the home made potato chips. Delicious! If you want you some genuine Cajun, this da place, uh-hu.
If you are craving that Louisiana flavor and spice in the Valley if the Sun...Baby Kay's has you covered! Last minute decision to stop by and discovered they still had Happy Hour until 6pm! The happy hour menu allowed me to try a couple of dishes - specifically the Crawfish Etouffee and Crab Cake. The Etouffee had just the right amount of spice and was loaded with crawfish 😍 The crab cake also hit the mark with a nice crisp outside. Although I'm used to biscuits with my Etouffee, the garlic bread was delicious with both dishes. I will be back very soon for more Etouffee and to try more!
