Ashe County Public Library

If I could give this library more than 5 stars, I would! We visited West Jefferson this afternoon & I was thrilled that the library is walking distance from downtown shops! My husband also liked this library layout very much. There is nothing they didn’t think of when they designed the layout. They have a very cool teen area as well as a children’s area with a sweet train (just for decor). I especially love the friends of the library section where you can buy used books. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it to the second floor. Will have to definitely visit again the next time we come to town. Read a book ❤️ Josephine Local Guide

I love libraries..very conveniently located next to the park. Read a little play a little. The lady at the front desk was helpful and very nice. She helped me join this library and then gave me helpful information on the baskets to my left for sale while explaining where they come from. The various sections and what's to be found. I love the variety in the children's section and they have legos!! It's very clean and well maintained. I met this lovely lady who recently moved here from Colorado. A must visit.

I didn't actually go into the library, i walked to the back to enjoy the nice weather in the park behind it. I enjoyed the park and the leisurely stroll I took while there. I went back there around dinnertime to eat a nice dinner from Smoky Mountain BBQ. Very enjoyable day all around. Today's visit, I went inside to return a book and look for more audio book cds for my listening pleasure. I was looking for a certain genre (westerns), and I was assisted by a nice lady who went into the back area and brought a box of audio cds out for me to look through. Very pleasant experience. The loudest Library I’ve ever been in. The public is apparently allowed to treat it like a street side cafe. Digging around in a big bag of noisy chips like they’re at home. Keeping it hidden in a backpack didn’t quite it down much. Another patron that used the same desk 5 minutes after Miss lunch break left had discovered the crumbs left buy the previous guest. Talking to each other from across the room(up-to 10-15 yards) in non hushed tone. As if on the street. Definitely not a quiet place to study. The staff are guilty of being loud too. Needs a sound barrier put up around the reception / help desk to contain the raised voices of the people trying to get their voices around the Desk Protection Sneeze guard. Some people are just naturally loud but don’t even try to tone it down. Says a g
