Applebee's Grill + Bar

The kids and us went during half appetizers and it was so good. We enjoy the food and atmosphere. Very clean , my drink was tasteful thank you to the bartender !

Unpleasant experience..I arrived at Applebee’s to dine in. I was prepared to wait given it was Valentines Day. When I arrived my husband and I spoke with the hostess to confirm the wait time which was an hour. I agreed to add my name to the wait list. I noticed there was NO seating in the waiting area; therefore, I asked the hostess permission to sit at an empty table on the other side of the hostess stand because I could not stand for an hour. The hostess stated it would not be an issue. About 10 mins later a waitress noticed us at the table and came over to engage. I immediately explained to her that we were sitting there waiting to be called from the waitlist given I could not stand for an hour. I again asked if it would be an issue and she stated no. My daughter and I waited 20 minutes to be seated in a less than half empty restaurant. Ten minutes into our wait another family came in and explained that they were in another Applebee's on the east side of Cleveland and were never waited on so she came to Independence. The waiter saw that we were there first but proceeded to seat and serve her and her family first. We did not complain because we felt bad that her and her children had to wait so long at the other restaurant and then come to this Applebee's in Independence and wait again. Our waiter was the only one serving and so he was trying to keep up. I really felt the Host could have helped out a bit he stayed in one area and didn't do much from what I could see I asked for a substitute sweetener but never got it. I went to the bar a

Independence location- Sunday night around 9pm. Customers were mostly couples and chill. It was primarily/almost entirely black patrons and the restaurant, as they should, was catering to the clientele. RNB music ect, and I like RNB, so I was happy. Better music than other times I was there. No pro or con and I felt safe by a nice couple at the bar, to place a to go order, rather than the lone guy at the bar. No hostess, busy, understaffed. Sat myself at the bar finally to place a to go kids meal (sometimes I can’t eat a whole meal). Had to walk over to the well drink to get the bartenders attention to ask her if I could order a to go. What an absolute pleasure to talk to the manager of this Applebee’s. She has worked for Applebee’s for 20 years. What a jewel. Her business acumen is off the chart. Food was fabulous ( hot and came as we ordered) establishment was clean, waitress was very attentive, however as 1 female manager (retired) to another was truly gratifying.
