Hey this stand alone building with a red & white steer statute on top stands out for all the right reasons. The deli serves up mean delicious deli sandwiches. This is an old school Italian deli reminiscent of the kind from my childhood. The kind of place that gets its fresh quality deli meats from butcher or meat shops. Well Angelo’s deli gets its meats from Angelo’s meats. Yup that same Angelo. He owns and operates both. I ordered a custom made sandwich. Oh boy it was fantastic! Soft, sturdy bread. Tasty, quality deli meat. Fresh fixings. Yum! But I got one gripe, my sandwich meat serving was skimpier than then the other Yelpers. You can distinguish from the photos. Inconsistency and arbitrariness makes me skeptical. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt here this time though.
This deli is really a small establishment, but there's a good amount of parking. It's next to Cornerstone Sonoma and north of Gloria Ferrer and Cline wineries. They have a good selection of deli meats, bread/rolls and cheeses to go on their sandwiches. Also they have pickles with their sandwiches, chips, and beverages. As everyone points out, they also have a wide selection of beef jerky but no samples. Friendly staff and yummy sandwiches. We're shared porchetta with provolone which was lovely and gooey. Sandwiches come with Andy's mints! Would gladly go again when south of Sonoma!
I love this place, grew up going here, I make the effort to stop by every time im back on the mainland. I will say im not thrilled with the small cuts, but im thinking I got the wrong bags as most of the stack was the huge and wonderful meat sticks. And yes, I know they would ship a box out to me, but that takes all the fun out of it.
I'm basing this review as an Italian. My dad's full-blooded, and I grew up on Italian food my whole life. Sandwiches are one thing that Italians don't play with. The sandwiches here, at best, are mid. I didn't really care for the sourdough bread, the roll. They should really think about upgrading that, because I feel like the bread really makes the sandwiches, as well as the cold cuts. The cold cuts were also mid. I got the salami and mortadella, which is a standard Italian staple in my family. The beef jerky, however, was amazing. I would definitely recommend that. The teriyaki and the plain beef, the teriyaki was absolutely delicious.
One of my favorite sandwiches I've had! Made quickly and priced similar to other comparable establishments. Heavy on the meat and generally tasted delicious. Sat on a picnic table outside and enjoyed.
