Allegany County Library System-Washington St.

It's a nice library, very helpful staff and the location is very convenient to me as I live downtown on West Side. My only complaint is the extremely limited opening hours. I have to really be cognizant of my schedule not to miss the very limited window of opening times. Frankly, if circumstances require the hours to be this limited, it makes a case for simply closing it.

I enjoyed my brief visit. I needed to use my laptop for a quick reference check. No problems encountered.

Sorry in advance for the long review. I would provide more detail, but for the sake of the readers I will keep it shorter, but expressing my concerns. Every time I come to this library I am nothing but respectful. I greet and engage with the staff but for some odd reason it is not received very well. (I do not even greet any of the staff anymore) Some of the staff members here are extremely rude and awkward to me. I find myself there often trying to fill out job applications and trying to do remote work online. Only because it is the proper setting to do so. I continuously receive mean looks and have been called, “Weird” by these employees numerous times as they sit at the front desk, mock me and continuously gossip about me and other people that come in this library. This was a great little library. Centrally located with easy parking and in a very cute part of town. Staff was relatively helpful. I had some issues reserving a room, but the librarian on duty was very accommodating when the system wasn't quite working right. The wifi works well and there are a number of cozy places to sit and read or do work. While there was only one conference room you could realistically have a call or meeting in, there is also a nice study corner that was a very productive place for me to work. All in all the library is well laid out, with a separate children's section away from the more quiet study and work areas. Note that the study/conference room is right next to the children's area. But the door is relatively insulated and the fact that children might be noisy

I love this library system. Of all the places I have lived, the locations are the most convenient and the selection of titles is impressive for an area this size. I love that you can check out movies and music as well as books and that you can send away for books that are not in the system. Staff is extremely friendly.
