Aki Sushi & Asian Fusion

This is a fairly new upscale restaurant that is large and airy. I would imagine that it can get loud but we came in the afternoon and it was quiet. Our server Leon was professional and and friendly. We had baked mussels and a California uní for appetizers. The mussels were excellent but hubby enjoyed the uni more than I did. We shared and Diablo roll and a spicy salmon roll. Both were very tasty. We will definitely be back. So good.

The space is nice with a comfortable ambiance, and the menu is extensive with a wide variety of sushi, rolls, and drinks. There’s also a bar, which adds to the overall experience. Pricing is on par with an average sushi joint, and the quality generally reflects that. I ordered the chirashi, which was $28 slightly above average for the portion of fish included. Service was a bit hit or miss. It started off attentive, but later on I waited quite a while for the check. Overall, it’s a solid option with plenty of choices. I’d be open to updating this review if I come back to try other items.

The food was too notch! From when my wife and I sat down and decided what we were going to try, since it was our first try, we got a couple appetizers and the ramen. I got the daddy's beef spicy ramen and my wife got the tongkotsu ramen. Both were the best ramen we have ever had. Our appetizers were amazing as well.

Visited twice, including during the soft opening. While early teething issues are understandable, the second visit yesterday did not show improvements. Dishes were consistently bland, lacking seasoning and depth of flavour. Service was slow with only two wait staff on duty. I won’t be returning and will go to downtown for Japanese next time.

Miso Soup The meal began with a standout, miso soup that was not just a warm-up but a dish worthy of ordering on its own. The broth was rich and deeply savory, balanced perfectly without being too salty. It carried a satisfying umami depth that made it feel comforting yet refined. Easily one of the best miso soups I’ve had, and something I’d happily return for. Hot and Sour Soup Following that, the hot and sour soup delivered equally well. The flavors were layered, spicy, tangy, and earthy, with just the right balance of vinegar and heat. It had a clean finish that left me wanting another spoonful.
