AJ's 'Ohana Kitchen - Arctic

First I'd like to say, I was born and raised in Hawaii until 1992, then Alaska raised me for the other 29 yrs. Never went back, and I've missed a lot of the food I grew up with. Had tried out alot of island foods from other places but AJ's got to me good. We ordered the Huli Huli chicken(hubs) and kalbi plate(me) and a bowl of shoyu poke. I cleaned my plate (which is a 2nd time cus I normally don't lol). Hubs Hulihuli chicken brought memories(so you know that's good), and yes I digged into his plate🤣. Comes with 2 choices of sides and of course I chose the Mac salad and white rice, Mac salad was in point 🥰. Hubs eventually cleaned his with my help and the ribs was delicious and tender. The poke was refreshing and oh so good🥰 my tummy tum was happy😁🤙 The boy that took our order was well man

The food is so affordable and it’s a lot of food The staff is nice . I ordered pork bbq and pork adobo . I truly enjoyed the bbq but the adobo not so much . I love the pancit also it tastes like home .

For 34$ the portions are diabolical. The kalbi was really cooked good but the Mac salad was way sugary and I get I got the side poké, so it wouldn't be alot but there was literally 4 cubes. The kalbi is deseptive bc it's on the side with the dividers. It's one piece. Even if they'd of just put the kalbi on the rice and have 2 scoops mac, it would of looked like more and been enough food. This was disappointing. Wasn't bad just not worth ordering literally.

The food is good but not the best. The service was really great! And the atmosphere is welcoming but there is a slight damp aroma inside. The menu is huge and I would highly recommend the sweet and drinks menu, the drinks are really good! The musubi was one of the best I’ve had from a restaurant, the rice is seasoned and the spam was cooked perfect. The ube milk and calimansa slushie were refreshing and left us wanting more. The mochiko chicken is sweet and delicious but the pancit had a bit of a sour taste to me. The Kalbi was a bit over cooked and the Huli Huli chicken was not very good. I would come back though, there’s so much I would still like to try 😊 the prices are worth it

The other plate laulau and kalua pig lomi salmon and shoyu poke with rice. One side poke sweet and spicy ginger. The garlic shrimp with rice and pansit.
