We had a fabulous experience here with chef Mitch Muroff. He’s a one man show, yet somehow still creates such an intimate environment where he has at least one conversation with each table and / or personally delivers a plate to the table. There’s an informative email / description on open table explaining timelines, restrictions, etc. Make sure to get there early if you want a welcome cocktail for the 6pm seating- you can order cocktails between 5:30-5:45, and they’re great! Aina Kauai is unlike anything else on the island. A true owner-operator restaurant where Chef Mitch Muroff designs the food, the sake pairings, and the cocktails, and cooks in real time with intention and care. Saturday’s Robatayaki dinner over binchō-tan charcoal is truly special—thoughtful, restrained, and deeply connected to place. This is dining for people who value craft and patience. Reservations are essential, and places like this deserve support. Thursdays feature a seafood-focused night. We’ve been to both. They’re exceptional!

After reading a lot of hype about this restaurant, some of it putting it on a par with Michelin rated restaurants, I long ago added it to my list. Finally, last month I dined here. Perhaps my expectations were set too high, as I left disappointed. I've dined at Michelin restaurants all over the world (United States, France, Italy, etc), and while the concept at this restaurant merits positive marks, the resulting dining experience was most underwhelming. Food presentation was very good to excellent. Food quality was fine. Food quantity was adequate (with one notable exception), but for the price point could have been more generous. We found this to be an amazing experience where every dish and cocktail was well thought out and executed extremely well. The owner / chef was extremely friendly and open to answer our own questions and others by the other guests. Definitely a great place to go to for a special dinner / event.

Small well designed restaurant in the heart of Kapaa town. There’s only one daily seating and reservations are required to dine. The chef’s tasting menu was excellent and the dishes were delicious and well balanced. It is worth noting that the chef works alone, and thus patience is required between courses, however, the food is worth the wait. Overall very enjoyable experience.
