A Taste A Di Caribbean

I am always on the lookout for a place that has a Jamaican meat Patty on the menu. I was in the Bluffton area and saw “A Taste A Di Caribbean” on Google Maps. I read the reviews and checked out their Menu in the Photos available and saw a long list of Patty types available as hand helds. I had to stop, it was a Thursday, 3:30pm and they are open. I went in and to the bar, Devene came to welcome me, and I asked about ordering a Patty or two. I went with Beef for sure, my typical favorite style. And went with the Jerk. As Devene brought them out, he said be careful they are hot, right out of the oven. Indeed they were. A great experience overall. We started with the BEST coconut shrimp I've ever had, and the sauce - crazy good! My sweetie ordered the Oxtail - de-licious!! A sides he had Fried Plantain and Festivals (a fried bread somewhat like hush puppies). I ordered the Jerk Chicken - I tried to eat this flavorful delicious dish, but my tastebuds were too sensitive - that was one spicy entree! Swapped most of mine for some of my husband's oxtail. Win-Win. My sides were fried cabbage. (It was too soft and had too many other flavors in it to enjoy) Hubby loved it. My other side was mac N cheese, with bacon, onions (?) and unexpected spices.. loved that. Clean, cozy interior. The atmosphere definitely vibes well, the service was on piont. And OMGOSH THE FOOD!!! I order rive, steam cabbage, curry chicken and stole a jerky chicken piece from my mother. The cabbage had so much flavor and the texture was not weird at all! The rice was good too. And the chicken. The chicken was so flavorful and it melted in my mouth the chicken was cooked perfectly. This food was the best food I ever put in my mouth. 100% recommend.

Food and service was amazing! I had the brown stew chicken and it was the most tender chicken I’ve ever eaten. My wife had the jerk chicken and it was wonderful as well. Get the fried plantains!!!!! You won’t be disappointed. Will go again VERY soon!

The menu was limited when we came but everything we had was delicious! Best Jamaican food I’ve ever had. Our group tried the curry chicken, the jerk chicken, the stew(brown sugar chicken), and the ox tail and it was all so good! Portions were very large too.
