I love food. My partner and I travel often, and wherever we go we try different foods. Sometimes the food is good but not great and it doesn't stick in our memory. We do have a few cafes around the continent that we have forever stored in our memory banks, though, and this one might top the list. We have had four different pastries across two days, all of them heavenly. We had their seasonal sticky bun latte and it is phenomenal. We got their apple orchard sandwich and talked about it for days after... It is simply divine. We live nowhere near this place, but if we did we would frequent as often as we could. Give it a visit if you are in Salem, it is truly one of the best food experiences I have ever had.

Absolutely delicious artisanal pastries in a cozy environment with very friendly staff! So many options to choose from with seasonal items as well. Everything was good but we especially loved the apple tart (seasonal) and the sticky bun 😋 A gem in downtown Salem, will definitely return ❤️

One of our favorite morning haunts- coffee is good and multiple sizes available in real coffee mugs. Love the vegan cranberry gingerbread muffin even though I'm not remotely vegan- missed out on getting the pimento cheese croissant this time but look forward to it the next time.

I have been coming here since I was a baby, and I usually get a blueberry muffin and some coffee. The blueberry muffin has remained the most delicious of any bakery I’ve ever been to, and has tasted the same since 2005. The coffee is tasty, and there are plenty of options. Oh, and don’t get me started on the sandwiches. AJ King might be one of the best places to get lunch or a snack in Salem — and I hope it never changes.
