Zuri's Gourmet Donutz

I was so worried that coming in almost an hour before closing would mean we wouldn't have a chance to try out the different doughnuts that I've seen on here. Luckily when we arrived, there was more than plenty to choose from. The owner greeted us as we walked in and he was absolutely delightful. We were so indecisive as we haven't ever seen this many variety of doughnuts, there wasn't a regular doughnut flavor to be found! There were so many different flavor profiles with textures or without. The names were also so creative and charming. The owner was telling us about the chocolates that he sells to and let us sample an Ube white chocolate oreo and I couldn't give my boyfriend more than a quarter of a bite cause it was so yummy! Great place but temper expectations. The good: great guy running the place and the flavor ideas are unique for sure. The dough and textures are nice. The bad: the five donuts I bought all had mild aroma and notes of butter that did not help the experience. The taste of the donuts felt much more experimental than "gourmet", and flavors were underwhelming. Definitely doesn't justify the price. The dude exudes like to try new things and I have full respect for that. Maybe down line the donuts will drastically change. My suggestions would be add acidity for tartness in fruity glazes or maybe vinegar to the dough if it doesn't affect texture. Add bits of flavoring to the dough itself? Perhaps some bitters to the dough to add depth? Shooting ideas hoping to not be a Debbie downer.

The buttermilk bar looking donut was very good. The Mexican chocolate ring… left a not so pleasant flavor in your mouth. Worth checking out for all its unique flavors, these style of donuts just wasn’t what I was looking for.

We discovered this fabulous place with our grandson who loves donuts. Little did we know that this little donut place is a gem amongst rocks. I am pretty sure that I won’t be able to appreciate a donut from any other place. Subtle, real flavors. These donuts are to be relished, not just eaten. We will be back.

I love donuts and I am always looking for new places. Here there are Many donut options! Kid and adult themed donuts. The texture of the raised donuts was so satisfying-soft, yet somewhat chewy in a wonderful way. The hardest part is deciding which donuts to get. (There were also vegan, gluten free options and dog options.) The atmosphere is very fun and relaxing. There's 2 bench seating tables. There is also some food options. I got the bodega breakfast sandwich which was so delicious. There was a regular customer there who highly recommended it and I was not disappointed. Hardest part was sharing my sandwich with my daughter, we should have got 2. Drip Coffee was good and we were allowed our reusable cup. He makes chocolate and there were many creative flavors.
