This is a hidden gem! One of the best Thai restaurants I’ve ever been to! Their dishes were all delicious and they actually have a very nice bar, provide happy hour menu, $5 bites and great selections for beer and wine. We ordered the Khao Soi and green curry, chicken wings, beer and the red wine, love the chicken wings so so much!
Absolutely amazing service. All the perks of an upscale restaurant, beautifully decorated, cozy and intimate atmosphere, and so reasonably priced! They took out coats at the front, offered all the fixings (sticky rice, crispy tofu) and every dish was delicious. A very delicious happy hour selection too. This is our new favorite spot!!
I went in for lunch today as I was craving for some Thai food after getting my hair done near by and I was not disappoint with the service nor the quality of food. I had the thai iced tea, calamari, spring roll, Pad Z-U from lunch special, and mango sticky rice. I was greeted by and amazingly taken care by Steve and the other lovely waitress who took my order. Steve just somehow can read my mind and offered thai iced tea and mango sticky rice. The food is phenomanal. The thai iced tea is great, the calamari is different from the American calamari as it is not oily and not fully coated with flour but its crispy on the healthier side, spring roll is crispy and goes well with the sauce it comes with, Pad Z-U is deliciously full of flavor and the flat noodle is not too oily nor too sticky, an
Per a friend's recommendation, I popped into Zom Tum to order takeout on a Wednesday evening around 6 p.m. A kind staff member helped me right away and within 15 minutes, I was out the door with our food. Everything we ordered came in hearty portions and full of flavor. The spicy basil fried rice was excellent. My eight-year-old daughter devoured the fried rice with chicken. My wife loved the drunken noodles with chicken and the larb. The tom yum soup was delicious. For dessert, the mango and sticky rice was excellent. The space itself is the old Joselito space along Pennsylvania Avenue SE near the Eastern Market Metro. There's bar seating and a large dining room with tables.
Really excellent restaurant. Great combination of both well-known Thai dishes that are well executed, as well as some very new and different Laotian dishes with innovative and surprising flavors. Extremely authentic in an excellent location with warm and attentive service. Stay for dessert - Their homemade coconut ice cream is outstanding!
