I came for comfort food—kebabs, burger, otherwise—but the cheesesteak was recommended, and you don’t have to tell me twice. Roll: fresh. Meat: plentiful and REAL shaved beef. Cheese: melty and perfect. Fries : crispy, hot and handcut. As you can see, they don’t short you on food. All this plus a drink for under $20. The restaurant is spotless and spacious—the rare “I’ll take it for here instead of to-go” type of environment. I’m a fan! Can’t wait to come back for the Maman Joon side.
The food took me back. It was very authentic and perfectly seasoned. Middle eastern food through and through. The prices were reasonable and the portions were good. The chicken breast kabob was tender and the beef kabob was well seasoned. Rice was super.
I wandered in randomly tonight on my walk home, I didn't really have any expectations. What I got was a masterpiece. Some of the best cooked chicken I've had in ages. At other fancier restaurants I've paid 2 or 3 times the price for chicken nowhere near this good. Umut, who is an absolute master of the grill, told me he's been working 3 years at different Maman Joons around town and rotates between them. If you get him cooking your kabob, you're in for a good time! The shakes are also great, which fits the same general principle -- taking a simple, straightforward style of food and nailing the high quality. In short: eat here!
I went on a Sunday night where I was one of 3 people in there. It was dead. I ordered a chicken kebab sandwich to go. I waited 20 minutes for it... there were four employees just standing around. A couple of them eating. I mean, I used to work at a mediterranean restaurant where we'd pump out a wrap/sandwich within 5 minutes TOPS. It wasn't even that good. First time I went here I was so excited and there was aluminum foil pieces in my wrap. It's not just one bad experience, it's a repeated thing. I won't be going back, mind you I very rarely write bad reviews like this.
The food was amazing & we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Please make your way out here.
