Customer Reviews
Yamato Hibachi and Sushi offers decent sushi and hibachi dishes with friendly service. The food is generally fresh, though some rolls can be hit or miss. The sushi is beautifully presented, and the hibachi meals are flavorful with generous portions. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is casual yet lively — perfect for a night out with family or friends. Definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to for both sushi and hibachi! Overall, a solid spot for a casual Japanese meal.
I used to love coming here because the food was good and reasonably priced for the portion size, obviously that has changed. I ordered this spicy tuna roll over the phone and it was $7.50 for 6 tiny pieces of sushi with BARELY any tuna in it as you can see in the picture. Over a dollar per piece of sushi is absurd when it's basically just rice and tempura flakes. Very disappointed.
Excellent sushi. Very good quality and filling. I ordered the Dinosaur roll and my daughter had the Mr. Fantastic roll. Both were great. The waiter was very nice and attentive. Also the gyoza pork dumpling s were really good. This is my favorite sushi place.
Appetizer was the beef skewers. It came with two skewers, three tiny pieces of beef on it and sauce. The meat was overcooked and dry, but at least there was the sauce. I had the tempura sushi rolls which had no flavor, they came with iceberg lettuce in them and the shrimp were not cleaned. They are super small rolls and there is hardly any shrimp in them. They really skimp on portions here. The environment is dark, sad, and lifeless. The table and menus were also super sticky. I won't ever return.
We've been to Yamato a couple of times, and the Habachi grills are never running. Maybe it's just for special reservations? In any event, the sushi is quite nice and always fresh. The service is mediocre and the atmosphere is a bit dark and oppressive - but still an enjoyable meal.
