Workhorse Coffee Bar

Lovely little queer-owned coffee shop on University Ave. The coffee is great! We also got the Thai tea (iced) and a pumpkin cream cheese muffin, which were both delicious! The service was prompt and friendly. Simple, chill atmosphere. The space is well lit but not too bright, with a combination of light fixtures and natural light from the large front windows. The music is a quiet comfortable volume for casual conversation. The various machines for making beverages(coffee grinder, blender, etc.) were a bit loud, but that’s to be expected. For a coffee shop, I feel like it’s pretty sensory-friendly. There is one single-stall all gender restroom. Overall, we had a great experience!

Wonderful staff, delicious quiche & coffee, and overall welcoming place. It was a little hard to find parking, but well worth it. The website has parking recommendations. Thanks for that!

Such a charming spot with a cozy brick aesthetic and some of the friendliest staff around. The espresso here is excellent, and the iced miel latte was easily the best I’ve ever had. A welcoming neighborhood coffee shop that nails both vibe and quality.

i love that this spot lets me come in with my pet, (just to the bench right by the front door) the staff are so kind and helpful, and will come over and take your order. this super rocks for the deep cold wintertime! their drinks are great and consistent and staff are very friendly. the owner is super kind every time we’ve spoken, and they even make their dog treats in house. such a fun spot to hang out and work because they have tons of large tables!

I've been coming to Workhorse since they opened 10 years ago. There are truly no words good enough to describe just how wonderful this place is. They are an essential part of the neighborhood and provide not only amazing coffee, but a safe space for everyone. I want a picture of my morning cold brew (with no ice) hung in the Louvre. There's really no place like Workhorse. <3
