Wiseacre Norfolk VA

Beautiful home with a beautiful lake view and a lot of personality. The host, Chuck, joined us for dinner at our invitation and he was a pleasure to hang out with. Be aware that the airport is right across the lake so it's not perfectly tranquil, but if there were planes taking off and landing at night I they didn't wake me up at all. Also be aware of the sleeping arrangements, there are 3 bedrooms with a queen-sized bed in each and a large living room with many more beds that can sleep a lot but offers no privacy. Additionally, the only shower is connected to two of the bedrooms, although Chuck did offer us the use of his shower in the morning since there were so many of us. And if you were planning on a movie night, there is no TV in the living room, just a stunning view of the lake. And

I held my husbands 50th birthday party here and it was incredible. The decor and view is amazing, Chuck was amazing, the house and its story is amazing. We had purchased some decor for his birthday but we really didn't need anything as the entire space is just perfect and quirky and different. We had the party for 4 hours and also rented the rooms for 2 nights for our out of town guests. Only thing to make sure you are aware is that it is Chucks home and is run more like a bed and breakfast than a full home rental (meaning he is on the property while you are there.) Chuck gave us and our guests space during the stay. He did join us at the party but we asked him too as so many of our guests had questions about his life and the home which is super coo. It didn't bother us to have him

I recently had my wedding here and it was incredibly perfect! I would not have changed a thing! Chuck is awesome! He is very helpful and our day wouldn’t have been the same without him! So glad we didn’t end up going with a boring hotel venue. My guests all had a blast and complemented us on choosing Wiseacre. I highly recommend it!

I'm not even sure where to begin when reflecting back on my wedding reception at Wiseacre this past weekend. This was the first and only place we looked at when considering a venue. We wanted something where we would have the flexibility to be as laid back as we wanted without compromising the quality of the place. Reading the description of Wiseacre with its breathtaking photos, followed by its ranting views, and solidified by owner, Chuck's genuine personality-we booked the same day as our visit. Throughout the year of planning, Chuck was quick to respond to any questions that we had and even let us visit a few times so we could just see our vision again as we brainstormed more ideas. Wiseacre is one of a kind! Inside is a museum of my generation's childhood and outside is breathtaking with the views. We had the privilege of having our daughter's wedding at Wiseacre in September and it was just perfect. There wasn't a moment we didn't feel welcomed and comfortable and even our vendors expressed the same feelings. Our caterer was "in heaven" with the kitchen and our photographer was excited about "making art" at such a whimsical, beautiful venue. We can't wait to visit again!
