Willowsong

I love Willowsong! The food, setting, and service were top notch. My colleagues and I tried the $35 Restaurant week lunch menu, and so glad we took a chance. The duck tart was so rich with the perfrct bursts of sour cherry. Our mains were solid - the steak sandwich was ruled the best entree. The lamb rigatoni was fresh with an unexpected kick from the salty, spicy lamb sausage. The stunner of meal was a chocolate Nutella brownie dessert. Jackie was our professional and attentive server. She shared tips and dishes to try on our next visit. We will be back!

In the early days of D.C.'s restaurant scene, top places were inside hotels and inns. Decades later, that faded. Restaurants inside hotels seemed to be an afterthought. Not anymore and Willowsong proves it. Located inside the Intercontinental at the Wharf, Willowsong is creating some noteworthy American dishes. Here's my experience dining in for lunch. 1) Food: The menu is diverse and the dishes uses majority ingredients from local farms and producers. To fill me up for lunch, I ordered the nectarine salad, meatballs, and famous milk buns. Each dish was full of flavor and original. The buns come with honey butter. The meatballs were full of flavor and comes with two slices of perfectly toasted bread. For dessert, the butter cake was recommended to me and wow. It's delicious- rich, and the

10/10 all around. We couldn’t stop talking about how tasty each bite was. The drink was strong and also tasty. The portions were great (we had leftovers for a midnight snack). The live music set an enjoyable atmosphere, and even played us a birthday song. Our favorite stop on this trip. We’ll be back. Thanks!

The food and service here are great, though there are definitely limits if you have dietary restrictions; most dishes by far have dairy and/or gluten, just to name the two most common ones. Every single dessert on the current menu has dairy and gluten, for example. I added a couple pictures of the steak & eggs (I've never had a rarer 'medium' steak) and the 'Chocolate Hazelnut Crunch,' which ended up being for just my husband, since when I called down to room service to ask, they described it as a chocolate tart with a crust, but it's essentially a brownie, which I can't even eat around (though I got a bite of the ice cream). This location has had so much bad luck in the past, but I think Willowsong is the perfect fit for it. The chef brought out our food on a quiet Sunday evening. He clearly knows what he's doing and the service felt so personal and top-notch. I was floored by the flavors. Will definitely be visiting again.
