Wilkerson Moravian Bakery

Yelp surprises as always and presents amazing places! This bakery is super traditional, but since I hadn't had many opportunities to visit places in Winston before, I really didn't know it. I was surprised by the quality of the products, the beauty and organization of the store. In addition, the owner is extremely kind and attentive, guided me through the options and even told me a little about the century-old history of the place. We tried the Moravian sugar cake which is fabulous and a spicy latte! Best combination ever! I also couldn't resist and got a cookie and gingerbread biscuits! I loved it and will definitely be back.

I had tried the regular Moravian cookies before, but had never been in their actual store. From the moment you walk in you feel like you’re in a winter wonderland. They go all out on the Christmas decor with numerous trees & Moravian stars surrounding you. The sweet smell of the sugar cake abounds in the air. The staff immediately greats you and are constantly making sure you are being helped. The various flavors of cookies make it hard to decide which to get. Luckily they have a cookie tasting station where you get whole cookies to try! I ended up buying 4 different flavors as they were all delicious. Ohmygoodness, the flavors! Every year we take the Moravias Sugar Cake to the family Christmas get-together. But the store has coffee, cookies, canoli, cupcakes, cheese straws and more!

This is a must do during the holiday season. Excellent customer service and beautifully decorated for Christmas. Highly recommend!!

I write this with a true desire to help this business flourish as I know it is a family heirloom business with amazing roots. It's the day before Thanksgiving and I see that Google says they are open today until 8pm. I rode up to the drive thru window at 4:30 and asked for sugar cake. They were sold out which I suppose is to be expected. However, the staff, although friendly, seemed caught off guard by my presence, a bit flustered when I was asking what they had. A cheese Danish was my second choice, he went in the back and said they were out of those too. The menu at the window didn't list all the options for me to choose from and the staff said "we got muffins and danishes, things like that." It seemed like a lazy response.
