West Neck Guesthouse

Lovely room, comfortable bed, very clean, easy check in and Suzanne quite accommodating and quick to respond. It’s a bit noisy in the evening due to traffic at the intersection, but at 10:00 pm it gets quiet. The only criticism I could come up with would be a chair in our room, but since we just needed the room for sleeping it was fine.

My family of 3 stayed here for 2 nights. The house itself is adorable, but could use some much needed, simple updates to make it top notch. We arrived right at check-in time (3 pm) and there was no sign or indication where to check in. We finally called the phone number provided and were told to just go in, find our room (#1) and make ourselves at home. Unfortunately housekeeping was still making up our room, and told us to come back in 5 minutes...which stretched into 20 minutes. She apologized that they were short staffed. ||Our room was really cute...2 levels with a sleeper sofa downstairs for our son and a great king bed upstairs in the loft. Great spot, conveniently located and owned by Shelter Island House. Room was clean and bright with a veranda and large new bath. Bed and pillows were the comfiest. Only thing I personally missed was a coffee maker or Keurig in the room. We welcomed the voucher's for morning bagel and coffee for the Eccentric Bagel shop (right across the road). We have stayed at the main house before and both are equally lovely. Oh..there is a great swimming pool accessible to guests too! Can't wait to revisit in the fall!

I gave it 4 stars only because of the access and use of Shelter Island House.||After our friends booked a room at Shelter Island House for $275, we tried, and it was now $400, we then searched for a more reasonable place and found West Neck Guesthouse, which looked very nice as well. When we were dropping our friends off at the Shelter Island House, a very pleasant and helpful young lady Emma, that worked the front desk there, informed me that West Neck Guesthouse was the sister Inn. We were able to use the facilities at the Shelter House, which had a nice pool, and Gazebo area, but its also 3 blocks away. Then we also found out that the West Neck House had no facilities At All. We stayed 2 nights, and both nights we had a hard time sleeping. There is an red exit sign in the bedroom that lights up the whole room during the night, there is a fridge that every half hour starts buzzing. The walls are very thin so we could hear the neighbors and their baby throughout the night. The room itself is big and clean. There is a nice bathroom, with bathtub. The backyard has shared places to sit and is nice. It looks very nice, but all and all is not worth the money.
