Waxy's Irish Pub

When we travel, we always end up seeking out the Irish pubs in whatever city we’re in. It’s just our thing. And no, it’s not only about the beer (though a Guinness fresh off a nitro tap is hard to walk past). I genuinely love Irish cuisine for its simplicity and comfort. It’s straightforward, flavorful, and satisfying in a way that doesn’t try too hard. We’re in Ft. Lauderdale waiting for our flight home tomorrow, and we stopped into Waxy’s Irish Pub—and this might be the best one we’ve been to so far. The open-faced brisket sandwich is incredibly tender, with pepper jack, gravy, jalapeños, and crispy fried pickles that somehow keep their crunch under all that savory sauce. Served with handcut chips, made even better with a good splash of malt vinegar. The fish and chips? Definitely no

Visiting Fort Lauderdale and this place was close to our hotel. What a pleasant surprise in a super touristy area! We went during brunch and the place was packed with very excited Premier League fans. In spite of the crowd service was prompt and friendly. I had the BLT and my husband had the fish and chips which he said was one of the best he’s ever had. Very fresh fish, not over battered. Highly recommend!

2/17/26- got there early. We wanted to sit outside but it smelt like sulfur so we went inside big inside seating in big bar. We both got an iced tea. One suite and we both got the fish and chips came with a little ramekin a coleslaw, and a little thing of peas. I thought the potatoes were a little mushy because the fish was on top. The fish was not at all greasy, so the whole meal was very good large portions.

Waxy’s Irish Pub has a great vibe, especially with the nice live music and a welcoming patio that’s perfect for hanging out. The servers are friendly and attentive, which makes the experience enjoyable. The food is okay, nothing extraordinary, but it does the job. Overall, it’s a solid spot to relax, enjoy the music, and have a good time.

Probably one of the better places I stopped into during my brief stay in Ft. Lauderdale. I had a good few hours to kill before I was to arrive at the airport, and this place was perfect to post up at with my laptop (booth with an outlet was a total added bonus). Ended up ordering a special burger they have on Wednesdays and it was fantastic. The steak fries that came with the burger were huge and hearty. They also had Paulaner on tap which is in my wheelhouse. Servers were polite and friendly. Only issue I had was toward the end of my stay it ended up getting really busy with most tables occupied but a row of high tops.
