Honestly, I don't understand the hype and all the 5-star reviews on this place. We were there on NYE which was probably a mistake. They were very busy and after we refused to be seated in front of the door (it was cold!) our service was awful. It took 20 minutes to get our drink order taken and over an hour to get our food, while tables that came in after us had already completed their meals. No one refilled our water or asked if we wanted a second drink. And then there was the food. The crab cakes were very tasty but there wasn't a whole lot of crab meat for an appetizer picked over $20. The seafood dynamite was described as spicy - I guess they consider coconut milk a spice? It was terrible, so sweet that it was almost inedible. Tried Wave for the first time. The food was good, I had the mango chicken with fried rice. Decent, didn't blow my socks off. Service attentive, not exceptional but nothing to complain about. The atmosphere was weird to me. Had a "fancy" vibe but most everyone there was casually dressed, including me. I would go again, but probably won't be a regular stop for me.

Top-notch food. Very high quality and unique Asian cuisine. One of the best restaurants of any type in Omaha. I have never had a bad or even mediocre dish here. The pan seared dumpling appetizer was excellent. The dumplings are tasty with a light batter. The portion size is ample for an appetizer and probably enough for 3 people to leave room for the entree. I ordered the Yakisoba noodles with chicken. They were not stingy on the chicken and somehow manage to elevate what would appear to be an ordinary dish of noodles into a delight from the first bite to the last. The portion size is large. So, I took my wife there for my birthday for the second time I’ve ever eaten there. The first experience I had was lunch a few months back, which was excellent. This time, however not so good. The nighttime server was let’s say was a little arrogant and suggested things that I didn’t want. I asked for fried egg noodles to put on top of my hot and sour soup. This I was informed that they didn’t have this, and the cooks could not make these. The last time we were there for lunch they had no problem doing this for us. He then proceeded to bring us out rice noodles instead. Which are not even close to what a fried egg noodle is in the soup. We then proceeded to put our order in for food of which he mixed up. We had an event catered by Wave Bistro, and the experience was absolutely exceptional. The owners went above and beyond to prepare delicious dishes that were not only beautifully presented but also full of authentic flavors. Every bite brought me nostalgia from the country I was born in, making the meal even more special. The service was outstanding, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and inviting. If you’re looking for incredible Asian cuisine with top-notch service, I highly recommend Wave Bistro.
