I saw Wasabi has a lot of gluten free options (and I am Celiac) so I lrdered Takeout and got the Tuna Princess (so good), Iowa Strong, California Roll, and a couple cucumber rolls. After getting home and opening the rolls, it 100% looked like the crab they use is imitation crab which is nearly never gluten free. I called to double check and they says they can “guarantee” the crab is gluten free. I ended up not eating it because you can tell it’s not real crab (which they do have on the menu) and otherwise would have been very very sick. I could be mistaken that they do use a gluten free imitation crab, but unfortunately I can’t take the risk.
I really wanted to give this place a 5 star review...and it was close - but I couldn't because there was an error with our order. Tony our server was training another gal and when we ordered food we said we wanted to start with an order of edamame...which never came. Then we ordered an eel role which was supposed to be with cucumber and it came with Avocado. Otherwise, the place is amazing with super nice decor and friendly staff. Sushi was good but not AMAZING. I'll probably be back - but not any time soon. We ordered 2 specialty rolls and 2 regular and our total was $85 for two people.
5 of us were going our for sushi Sunday evening and we ended up at Wasabi by mistake. This wasn't exactly clear until after we had sat down and someone brought menus for us. But, we decided to stay and give it a try. All of the sushi was excellent. The service was excellent. It was my first time trying a blood orange margarita, and I really liked it. Enough to order a second one. I don't have a single negative thing to say. Except perhaps that the wasabi was a tiny bit dry. I can't help myself, I should be a food critic. It was a Sunday evening and business was definitely on the slow side. Your experience may vary on a busy night. I just know that I am going back. Wasabi that is a tiny bit dry isn't going to stop me. The food was excellent.
I hadn’t been to Wasabi in a while, but it’s still just as neat and tidy as I remember. The food was fresh and well-prepared. The kimchi fish appetizer was especially creative and delicious. Sushi rolls were classic and reliable. The orange chicken, though, wasn’t as good as before—the breading was too thick, though the sauce was still just as tasty. Our server seemed a bit listless and tired, but overall, it was a pleasant experience.
It's a beautiful restaurant and the food is really good. Staff seems friendly and happy to be there which is always a good sign. They have an Interesting egg drop soup which was rather spicy. I really liked it.
