Waffle House

Stopped by this location on my way home Saturday morning. Even though it was busy, the team worked together seamlessly and made sure every guest was acknowledged. The highlight of my visit was Keke. Although she wasn’t my server, she went out of her way to make sure my mom and I were well taken care of. As someone who works in hospitality, I truly appreciate the little things—and Keke absolutely delivered. Her attentiveness and positive attitude made all the difference in our experience.

Usually Waffle House is one of my go to places for breakfast. On this Sunday morning I experienced the worst service and food from Waffle House at the 9041 New Kings Road location in Jacksonville Florida. I sat at the counter to eat in and ordered scrambled eggs (light) with grits bacon and sausage. The eggs were not cooked light but running- no they were sprinting! I asked that they be cooked a little more but the cook returned them undercooked. The grits were undercooked hard and lumpy. The bacon and sausage were perfect. The main point of this review is to alert of the poor service at this location. My server "Ms. CJ" was an extremely rude person. I ordered online and arrived to pick up my food, only to find all employees outside taking a smoke break. One employee was wearing a blanket. When they came back inside, no one washed their hands before beginning food preparation. Be very mindful placing an order after midnight obviously when it's slow the employees huddle outside.This raised serious concerns about hygiene and food safety. I expect better standards when ordering food, and this experience was disappointing.

The food is good. The only issue for me and my husband were on the cook for the eggs. Our over easy orders were both still with that slimey, clear mucus membrane. The service was appropriate and our waitress was spot on. The atmosphere is a different thing. This place must not of had an inspection in a long while. I wouldn't believe any restaurant inspector would allow for this much neglect. Pictures are provided. It was really nasty! Some of those waffle irons may have never been cleaned. The amount of grime on those surfaces was unbelievable! The overall condition is questionable to say the least.
