Volcano House

It's worth staying here as you visit Volcano National Park. It's easy to hike the park and go to the ranger talks. The 2 restaurants are good, with a wide variety of food and drinks. The rooms are dated but clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My luggage went to the wrong island and we were late arriving. The staff got the kitchen to stay open a little longer so we could get some food. They also texted us the next day when the luggage arrived. The walls are a little thin. But I would rather stay here and watch the sunset over the Halem'aum'au crater with a drink than drive back in the dark to HIlo, just to drive back the next day to see more of the park.

Good food, variety and service for a reasonable price with a great view of the volcano. Also, there is plenty of seating for non-restaurant visitors and a wonderful gift shop. The hotel is a good place to stay for night viewing of the volcano, especially if you are coming from Kona.

Volcano house is really a great place to watch the volcano crater. We had lunch there and food was really good, server was courteous. We stayed there till late evening with hope of seeing glow (which we did not) but regardless we felt lot safe and warm waiting at volcano house than other open lookouts. Parking was full but we could find spots across the street.

If you are visiting Hawaii Volcanos Park, I would strongly recommend stopping by the Volcano house for a meal, snack or coffee. Even if you are not getting anything to eat, you can just relax in the lounge with stunning views of the volcano. When we visited, Kilauea had just finished erupting so it was cooling down.|There is plenty of parking around the restaurant, so it is an ideal place to begin your hikes around the volcano. And I find the food to be awesome at the restaurant with the only con being that wait times can be long – there are only a limited number of tables in the restaurant.

Drove up to see the active volcano. Stopped for lunch and views of the volcano. Food was great and of good value. The view from our seats was amazing. Lots of smoke stacks in the crater when we were there. Everyone was very nice.
